About The Author
Pamella A. (Ryan) Russell was born in Buffalo, NY. She moved to Brazil in her early teens and lived there until she was a young adult. Ms. Russell graduated from Rutgers University with a major in Spanish, then earned a Master of Library Service (MLS). She also studied at the Institute of Children’s Literature and is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).

The Catch of the Day was inspired by a 1995 newspaper article about a man who lost his dentures overboard while on a fishing trip in the Netherlands. The story is about a boy who goes striper fishing (also known as rockfish or striped bass) with his father and grandfather.
Saci Kids
Four foster children meet an elf called Sací, sheltering in an antique rum barrel. He’s a one-legged trickster in a magical red cap who smells like rotten eggs and travels in a dust tunnel – an orphan of sorts and a long way from his home in the jungles of Brazil.
